A young Ghanaian Soldier by name, Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu who hails from Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region and recently enlisted in the Ghana Armed Forces in 2023, recently got honoured by a private security firm for outrightly rejecting a bribe from Galamsey operators. Not only that, Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu has been promoted by the Ghana Armed Forces for such a singular act of patriotism.

The Ghana Armed Forces on 11th July, 2025 organized an all-rank durbar at Burma Camp, in the Burma Hall in Accra. Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu was promoted from working with the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces to the rank of Lance Corporal with immediate effect by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS).
Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu was not only promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal, he nominated to serve with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. In addition to this, he was presented with another citation for his integrity and sense of patriotism.

Present was the CDS, Lieutenant General William Agyapong who urged personnel to always uphold their oath to the state and conduct themselves professionally. In his words, he said “Much as acts of indiscipline will attract sanctions, professional conduct such as that of Lance Corporal Teye-Tsu will attract reward and commendation.”
What Actually Happened Before the Recognition of Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu?
Lance Corporal Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu was carrying out his daily duty at the Bibiani Gold Mines last year when a group of illegal miners popularly know as Galamsey operators approached him with a huge sum of money to bribe him so that they can have access to their illegal mining pits.
Lance Corporal private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu outrightly rejected the bribe and quickly apprehended the culprits and hanged them over to appropriate authorities to prosecute them. He did this out of his sense of patriotism and interest in protecting and preserving the natural environment so that these illegal miners would not continue to destroy the environment.

The private company security at the Gold Mines by then known as Ojeyz Security Limited got impressed by his selfless and patriotic act and honored private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu as a Shining Star.
