Commonwealth Youth Council Remote Internship Opportunities 2025
The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), which serves as the official voice of over 1.5 billion young people in the Commonwealth, is seeking dynamic and motivated people to support their work through internships. These roles offer a unique opportunity to individuals who will take up these roles and contribute meaningfully to youth development across 56 member countries.
Why Work as a Commonwealth Youth Council Intern?
As an intern with the Commonwealth Youth Council Intern you will participate directly in initiatives that affect youth throughout the Commonwealth; you will get hands-on experience in youth leadership and international development; work together with a productive, multicultural team; and grow your international network and acquire useful career skills.
- Location: Remote
- Duration: 3–6 months
- Time Commitment: 10–15 hours

Internship Roles
There are three positions available for interested applicants. These are:
1. Communications and Marketing Intern
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities in this role are:
- Support the implementation of digital campaigns and media strategies.
- Assist with preparing newsletters, press releases, and blog content.
- Monitor performance metrics and generate engagement reports.
- As part of your responsibilities as a Communications and Marketing Intern, you will:
- Develop and manage social media content (including reels and short-form videos) across platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter).
- Design digital visuals and marketing materials in line with CYC branding.
Requirements for this role:
To be accepted into this role, one should meet the following requirements:
- Prior experience with short-form video creation.
- Must be a student at the tertiary level or a recent graduate.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country.
- Proficiency in digital media and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong understanding of social media trends and youth engagement strategies.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills.
2. Web Design Intern
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities in this role are:
- Resolve technical issues and suggest design improvements.
- Support the integration of multimedia elements and digital resources.
- Contribute to SEO optimisation and web analytics tracking.
- Assist with the maintenance and regular updates of the Commonwealth Youth Council website.
- Enhance user experience and ensure accessibility across all digital platforms.
Requirements:
To be accepted into this role, one should meet the following requirements:
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Must be a student or recent graduate.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country.
- To be accepted into this role, one should meet the following requirements:
- Experience with web design, layout, and development (CMS - WordPress)
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS; knowledge of JavaScript is an asset.
- Attention to detail, with a strong design sensibility and UX focus.
3. Administrative Assistant Intern
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities in this role are:
- Support internal communication and operational coordination within the Central Delivery Unit.
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, documentation, and minute-taking.
- Track ongoing projects and follow up on action items.
- Assist in organising virtual and in-person meetings, workshops, and events.
- Conduct background research and prepare briefings or internal notes.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace tools.
- Must be a student or recent graduate.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country.

- Strategic thinking with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- High level of written and verbal communication.
