The Pan-Atlantic University is the first Nigerian university to partner with the Mastercard Foundation on the transformative initiative that has been happening in other African countries, such as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Ashesi University in Ghana. The partnership is committed to empowering and educating 650 Mastercard Foundation Scholars over the next ten years at PAU.

About Pan-Atlantic University

The university began as the Lagos Business School (LBS), which opened in 1991. In 2002, the federal government approved the university as the Pan-African University, with the LBS serving as its inaugural school. Work on the Ibeju-Lekki campus began in 2010, after the Ajah Campus was finished in 2003.

Today, Pan-Atlantic University is a Nigerian school dedicated to providing a well-rounded education for human beings. The University's Mission is stated as follows: "to form competent and committed professionals and encourage them to serve with personal initiative and social responsibility the community in which they work, thereby helping to build a better society in Nigeria and Africa at large."

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) aims at:

  1. Making high-quality education accessible: Ensuring that gifted people can pursue their academic objectives.
  2. Building future leaders: Encouraging scholars to have an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent leadership abilities, and a dedication to social responsibility.
  3. Promoting career success: Using internships, career counseling, and mentorship to provide Scholars the experiences, contacts, and abilities they need to succeed in the workplace.
  4. Promoting constructive social change: Encouraging scholars to engage in meaningful service projects that benefit their communities.

Who Can Apply for This Scholarship?

This fully-funded undergraduate scholarship is for applicants who:

  1. Are internally displaced young people
  2. Are young people with disabilities
  3. Demonstrate academic excellence
  4. Demonstrate leadership potential
  5. Demonstrate financial need
  6. Are young women interested in STEM programmes
  7. Demonstrate commitment to giving back to their community.
  8. UTME Minimum Score of 220 (The required UTME subjects are English Language and any three of Social Science, Arts, or Science subjects)
  9. Must have passed WAEC/ NECO/ GCE/ NABTEB with 5 credits including English and Mathematics and three other subjects in Arts, Sciences, and Social Science in not more than two sittings.

Scholarship Selection Process: 

Step 1: Applicants Must Meet the Academic Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.

Step 2: Applicants Should Fill Out the Application Interest Form

Interested candidates who DO NOT have their UTME result should complete the Interest Form to indicate their desire to apply and begin the screening process.

Step 3: Applicants Should Write the JAMB UTME

Applicants must sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board – Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB UTME). A minimum score of 220 is required to proceed to the next stage.

Step 4: Applicants Should Complete the Online Application Form

Eligible candidates who have the CURRENT year UTME results should complete the application form, providing personal, academic, and background information, including documentation.

Step 5: Screening and Shortlisting of Applicants for Interviews

  • Applications are reviewed for alignment with eligibility and Scholars Program goals.
  • Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview, which may be held in-person or virtually, depending on location and circumstance.

Step 6: Qualified Applicants Receive Admission and Scholarship Award

Successful candidates will be notified of admission into Pan-Atlantic University and a formal scholarship award offer under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Applicants who meet the requirements should submit their applications online through one of the following options:

  1. Indicate Interest (Awaiting UTME): Candidates with a minimum of five O’Level credits (including Mathematics and English Language in no more than two sittings) who do not yet have their UTME results should fill out this form.
  2. Begin Application (UTME Ready): Candidates with both five O’Level credits (including Mathematics and English Language within two sittings) AND a minimum UTME score of 220 in the current year should click here to start their application now.
